Exercises for thoracic spine mobilization

Thoracic Spine Mobilization on the Pilates Roller

Mobilizing the thoracic spine on the Pilates roller is a soothing exercise that helps improve mobility in the upper back and supports an upright posture.

Gently resting and mobilizing the thoracic spine on the roller also stretches the front muscle and fascia chain. The chest area in particular can open up, while the shoulder girdle is relieved and the spine's natural alignment is supported.

The exercise helps release tension in the upper back, makes the thoracic spine more mobile, and builds a freer, more upright sense of the body. For anyone who spends a lot of time sitting, regular mobilization can be a valuable way to counterbalance that.

Move slowly and with control: work with your breath, only go as far as feels comfortable, and avoid arching into your lower back. That way the exercise can work its effect gently and sustainably.
